Rock or Mineral?
Grade 4 kids learned that rocks and minerals are different! Rocks are made of 2+ substances, where minerals are the same substance throughout. After comparing this idea to food, we broke apart some rocks and minerals! Can you tell which is which?
Cloud Types
Today grade 5 students learned about the different cloud types! They had to find the main ideas from their textbook reading and then create a cloud using cotton balls!

Unit 4- Weather
We have started our last science unit in grade 5! Our first experiment included warm and cool air! Students learned that warm air rises and that this correlates with wind and weather patterns.
Book Review Presentations
To wrap up our Evaluating Reading Strategy, students were paired up to evaluate a picture book! They had to tell us the summary, the book's strengths and weakenesses, and their overall rating! This week they presented their Powerpoints to the class and they did a great job!

Essays
Students have started their final essay this year. Grade 4 kids are writing about animals (animal habitat connection from science) and Grade 5 kids are writing about a province or territory (social connection)! So far we have researched and planned our paragraphs!
