Regina Pats Hockey Game

And they're off....

Students left the school around 9:30 this morning to take part in the PVSD/Regina Pats hockey game! They look excited! Hopefully Ms. Harbottle and Mrs. Pugh aren't too tired when they get home!

Symmetry

We meet a lot of our learning goals by crossing curriculums. Our math curriculum asks us to explore symmetry, and we did just that in our latest Art activity!

Knee Surgery

I will be away from class until March 7 as I have scheduled knee surgery on Feb 25. June Harbottle will be with the students for the next week! If you have any concerns please call the office!

Homework Booklets

Just a reminder to students and parents that there is a homework booklet to complete over the break. Students are expected to do the math activities, but the reading challenge is a bonus if students would like to earn three stars!

Curling Bonspiel

Students participated in our annual curling bonspiel on Thursday! They have shown such improvement since they began curling in January.

Oobleck

Grade 5 students got to make Oobleck! This substance has the properties of both a liquid and a solid. You can dip your hand in slow and it will feel like a liquid, but if you squeeze it, it will feel solid. Students also thought about raw and manufactured materials while they created their Oobleck! The kids had fun making a mess!

Spellodrome

Did you know that using their Mathletics password, students also have access to  a program called Spellodrome? This interactive website is set up to suit the needs of each student and allows them access to spelling practice at home!

Dissolve- Mixture

To expand our learning on chemical and physical changes, grade 5 students did an experiment with mixtures. Even though we think iced tea and cornstarch are completed 'gone,' a mixture is only a physical change. The water can evaporate!

Lenses

Grade 4 students did two experiments to learn how lenses work and how they are useful. Both lense experiments were created with water. This activity extensed our knowledge on refraction and how light can change direction.
