World Education Games
Students in our school are taking part in a global competition called World Education Games. This allows students to challenge others around the world in spelling, math and science. On Tuesday we did spelling. Today we did Math and tomorrow we will challenge Science.
If your child wants to participate at home they can log in at Wold Education Games 2015!
Questioning
Our reading strategy for September was Self-Monitoring. We have now moved on to Questioning in October.
Students are encouraged to ask questions before reading to set a purpose for reading. Then while reading, students ask questions to determine understanding and to set further purposes for reading. At the end of reading, students are also encouraged to wonder what else they want to learn about the book or topic.
Students have been practicing these ideas whole group and with peers, while they continue to self-monitor and fix up their reading.
